News that the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Board will further reduce the ratepayers’ contribution to the Auckland Rescue Helicopter has been greeted with dismay by Epsom MP, John Banks.

“It’s shabby treatment by the Funding Board of what is an essential community service for Auckland, Mr Banks said.

Five Companies To Bid for Turk Utility Helo Deal

Five international helicopter manufacturers will compete in a Turkish program for the acquisition of four utility helicopters for the country’s Coast Guard, with an option to buy two more.

Turkey’s procurement agency, the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), announced March 11 that five companies had obtained the requests for proposal, traditionally a sign to make an offer for the tender.

Indian Authorities Investigate Rolls-Royce Bribery Charges

Earlier this month, India’s defense ministry ordered an investigation into a $1.6 billion purchase of jet engines from the U.K.’s Rolls-Royce. According to Defense News, ”the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will probe allegations of kickbacks over the deal for Rolls-Royce to supply engines to state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) between 2007 and 2011.”

Airbus Helicopters Delivers Upgraded Tiger to German Army

The Germany Army received the last of 12 Tiger UHT support helicopters upgraded by Airbus Helicopters for Afghanistan missions to support ground troops, protect convoys and perform reconnaissance operations.

This milestone rotorcraft – presented during a delivery ceremony at Airbus Helicopters’ Donauworth, Germany production facility – was provided to the military service’s 36 Combat Helicopter Regiment.
